About Dundela St Mark (Strandtown)

Dundela St Mark (Strandtown) is a Church of Ireland church in Dundela, County Down. It is in the Diocese of Down & Dromore.

History

The first Rector of St Mark's was the grandfather of the author Clive Staples (Jack) Lewis, for whom this was the home parish. Lewis was baptised in the church and returned to it a number of times in later life.

Notable features

The stained-glass Lewis window in the church commemorates Lewis's parents. The parish describes the Old Rectory at St Mark's as one of the few remaining buildings with a direct link to him.
