About Donaghpatrick St Patrick (Gibstown)
Donaghpatrick St Patrick (Gibstown) was built around 1896. The church is built of squared limestone under a pitched slate roof. Notable features include a two-stage tower, pinnacles, window tracery and buttressed walls.
The building
Designed by J.F. Fuller, the church incorporates a former medieval tower house to the west. The structure features snecked rock faced limestone walls with buttresses and a pitched slate roof. Pointed arch window openings display carved limestone tracery and hood mouldings. Stained glass windows by Heaton, Butler and Bayne are present. A graveyard is situated on the site, accessed through octagonal ashlar limestone gate piers with cast-iron gates.
