About Coolock St John The Evangelist
Coolock St John The Evangelist was built around 1760. It has a cruciform plan and rendered walls under a hipped slate roof. Notable features include a three-stage tower, stained-glass windows and lancet windows.
History
Built on the site of an early medieval ecclesiastical site dedicated to St Brendan, the church was consecrated on 21st September 1760 by the Archbishop of Dublin, Most Reverend Charles Cobb. The three-stage entrance tower was added in 1795. Arthur Guinness served as a church warden here from 1777-82.
