History
The church dates from 1868. It is one of two churches in the parish of Monasterboice, a few kilometres north of Drogheda, the other being the Church of the Immaculate Conception at Tenure, which dates from 1894. The parish is associated with the ancient monastic site of Mainistir Bhuithe, founded by St Buithe in the fifth century.
