About Church of the Immaculate Conception, Strokestown
Church of the Immaculate Conception, Strokestown was built in 1860. The church has rendered walls under a pitched slate roof. Notable features include a three-stage tower, stained glass including a rose window, an internal gallery and a marble altar.
Notable features
The interior has a tiled porch and limestone columns along the side aisles. An open timber-truss roof spans the church, while the sanctuary has a coffered ceiling supported at its east end on marble colonettes. Marble reredoses stand in the nave and both side aisles.
