About Church of Our Lady of Mount Carmel, Rooskey
Church of Our Lady of Mount Carmel, Rooskey was built in 1844. It has a five-bay nave and rendered walls under a pitched slate roof. Notable features include a three-stage tower, stained-glass windows, an internal gallery and an organ.
The building
The nave is flanked by flat-roofed side aisles, with a sacristy at the north-west. Inside, round columns carry the aisle arcade beneath a flat ceiling. Graves of former parish priests are arranged around the church, and the site has cast-iron and wrought-iron gates.
