About Burnside Presbyterian Church
Burnside Presbyterian Church is a congregation of the Presbyterian Church in Ireland in Coleraine, County Derry.
History
The congregation was formed in 1974 as a church extension and met at first in Burnside Orange Hall. Parish boundaries were set in April 1977. A foundation stone for a dual-purpose hall was laid in June 1978 and the hall opened in March 1979, serving as both church and hall.
A foundation stone for a church building, joined to the existing hall, was laid in November 1989 and the church was dedicated in November 1990. An organ presented that year from Ashton Church, Gouroch, had first been installed in Liverpool Cathedral. A manse was built in 1994. In January 1995 Burnside moved from a church extension charge to become a fully constituted congregation within the Presbyterian Church in Ireland, and the congregation marked its 25th anniversary in 1999.
