About Bloomfield Presbyterian Church

Bloomfield Presbyterian Church is a congregation of the Presbyterian Church in Ireland in Belfast, County Down.

History

The church was established in 1887 in east Belfast, on the Beersbridge Road. To one side of it stand the Victorian terraces that housed workers for the manufacturing industries of east Belfast, and to the other the merchants' houses built as the wealth of the city's middle class grew. The congregation's own history records that in those early years its members came from both, and that the shipyard worker sat with the solicitor and the mill worker with the school mistress.

A major renovation and rebuilding of the church halls, at the junction of Beersbridge Road and Cyprus Avenue, was funded by the congregation itself and completed in 2020.
